Tim Curry, the legendary actor and performer best known for his unforgettable roles as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Pennywise in Stephen King’s It, has died at the age of 80.

Curry reportedly died peacefully at his home in Los Angeles. His manager confirmed his death to Variety. A cause of death has not been announced.

For generations of fans, Curry was far more than an actor. He was a performer capable of transforming himself into some of the most memorable and eccentric characters ever seen on stage and screen.

His breakthrough came with The Rocky Horror Show, Richard O’Brien’s groundbreaking musical that debuted in London in 1973. Curry originated the role of Dr. Frank-N-Furter, the flamboyant and eccentric scientist, and reprised the character in the iconic 1975 film adaptation, The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

With his distinctive voice, theatrical presence, outrageous costumes and unforgettable performance, Curry turned Frank-N-Furter into a cultural icon.

But his career extended far beyond Rocky Horror.
