A Familiar Face in an Unfamiliar Role
It all started like any other event. My team and I arrived early, setting up tables, arranging flowers, and making sure everything was just right before the guests arrived.
An hour later, the bride and groom returned from their photo session, and the room hummed with excitement. I had just stepped into the restroom to freshen up when my coworker, Stacy, rushed in, her face pale with panic.
“Lori,” she stammered, “you need to leave. Now.”
I frowned. “What? Why?”
She hesitated. “You’re not going to like what you see.”
Confused, I brushed past her and made my way back to the hall.
